What is known as fashions biggest night out is almost upon us!
Not only is the fashion to die for, the A-listers jewellery does not disappoint!
The theme for this years Met Gala is In America: An Anthology of Fashion. Which celebrates American fashion and is the second of the two-part series from the Metropolitan Museum of Art - the first, called In American: A Lexicon of Fashion, held in September 2021. This years dress code is Gilded Glamour, taking inspiration from the time period 1870 to 1890 - The Gilded Age in New York.
Let's take a look at some previous gala fashion, focusing on the amazing jewels that have graced those ever so famous steps!
Anna Wintour
Let's begin with the Met Queen herself. Anna Wintour, the gala's chairwoman, always dresses to impress - with her classical elegance and vintage touches, Wintour is rarely seen without at least one antique necklace.
Usually styling coloured gemstones, this special necklace Wintour wore to the 2016 gala consists of old cut diamond florets in white gold, adding the perfect vintage touch to her Chanel gown.

Blake Lively
A regular at the Met Gala since 2008, Blake lively is no stranger to the star-studded event. This year, Lively is also serving as one of the co-chairs of the gala, meaning all eyes will indeed be on her - and we have no doubt she will deliver a stunning ensemble on the night!
In 2018, Lively wore a 'heavenly' Versace gown - as well as $2 million worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewellery - embodying the theme Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination perfectly!
The jewellery included gold bracelets, three ruby and diamond rings and a 30-carat Colombian emerald and diamond earrings. The most exquisite piece of the ensemble was in fact her custom halo that featured 100 carats of champagne diamonds.

Jordan Alexander
Alexander is a true fashionista when it comes to television and real life!
Her powerful looks extended their way onto the gala's red carpet in 2021, betting a colourful Tiffany & Co. Schlumberger daisy necklace consisting of multicoloured gemstones and diamonds, totalling over 118 carats, along with matching peridot and diamond earrings.
Harry Styles
In 2019, Harry Styles made his Met Gala debut - as well as being co-chair of the prestigious event. Styles rocked up in a Gucci mesh and lace jumpsuit and accessorised with hands full of gorgeous rings - featuring his usual Gucci initial rings.

I think we can all agree that he was the standout men's look from that year, wearing an iconic but simple single pearl earring featuring a classic Gucci bumblebee - this being the first of many pearl looks for Styles.

Rihanna
Rihanna is possibly one of the most highly anticipated guest of the Met Gala and she did not disappoint when she graced the red carpet in 2021.
Rihanna rolled up fashionably late wearing over 267 carats of Bulgari archival diamonds. Around her neck was a Bulgari Heritage necklet circa 1959 totalling 81.9 carats consiting of round, baguette and tapered diamonds, a Bulgari High Jewellery necklace with nine pear cut diamonds, 107 round brilliant cut diamonds and pave-set diamonds totalling an impressive 56.93 carats, and two diamond bracelets circa 1955 to match, finishing her look with a single earring from the Bulgari High Jewellery collection.
