But before it was given this elegant title, legend has it that Romans called it the “sailor’s gem” because fishermen would use it for protection, safe travel by boat and luck in catching fish.

Spiritually, this blue stone is said to have calm flowing vibrations which aid in clearing the mind and calming the heart. The ancient philosopher Pliny paid tribute to this gem of vitality, stating, "the lovely aquamarine, which seems to have come from some mermaid's treasure house, in the depths of a summer sea, has charms not to be denied.”
