The royal Ruby is one of the world’s most precious gems and is the birthstone for those born in the month of July.
Ruby has been referred to as both ‘The Queen of stones’ and the ‘The stone of Kings’ after centuries of being treasured by royal families across the globe. Records suggest that rubies were traded along China's North Silk Road (an ancient trade route, linking China to the west) as early as 200 BC. Chinese noblemen adorned their armour with rubies because they believed the gem would grant protection. Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, has been a significant ruby source since at least 600 AD.
Spiritually, the ruby is thought to stimulate the heart chakra and in turn is said to be protective of the home and family. Ruby is also said to assist in connecting one’s energy field to the Earth for the purpose of replenishing one’s energy stores. It is excellent for grounding and overcoming mental overload, it is a great support during times of stress
